Handling them, writing and reading the data, often proves to be a bottleneck during the workflow.<\/p>\n<p>Our long-standing software partner, the data specialists from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilight.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Intelligent Light<\/a>, have now developed <a href=\"http:\/\/kombyne.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kombyne\u2122<\/a>, a High Performance Computing (HPC) library that allows the user to extract and render result data in real time during the running CFD calculation without significantly disturbing the working memory and computing power (keywords: &#8220;on the fly&#8221;\/&#8221;in-situ&#8221;\/&#8221;in-transit&#8221;). Furthermore, Kombyne is also able to control CFD calculations during the run (&#8220;steering&#8221;). Our engineer Ren\u00e9 Th\u00fcmmler was involved in the integration of Kombyne\u2122 into the CFD code Hydra. Hydra is the in-house calculation tool of the turbine manufacturer Rolls-Royce for the aerodynamic design of gas turbines. An article on the calculation of compressor maps of a multi-stage axial compressor using Kombyne\u2122 calculation control was published in January 2022 in San Diego as part of the AIAA SCITECH 2022 Forum (link to <a href=\"https:\/\/arc.aiaa.org\/doi\/abs\/10.2514\/6.2022-1723\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/video.aiaa.org\/title\/b7d51fbd-c021-4a10-917f-3b8edb3280db\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video presentation<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"this-book__date\">And the development of the interfaces from Kombyne\u2122 to the CFD codes by Ren\u00e9 Th\u00fcmmler continues: The connection of Kombyne\u2122 to OpenFOAM is completed. The integration into other solvers is in progress.
